Hello Everyone!! Today I’m participating in the official Hero Arts challenge blog – A Blog Named Hero.
Its the first challenge for 2018, so I’m excited to get on board with the first one. This challenge was simply use your favorite Hero Arts product, which is really hard, I mean you’ve seen their stuff right?! It’s all awesome! But I decided to focus on the first monthly kit I purchased – I LOVE this kit!
There are so many stamps revolving around celestial images, it’s great! The flying girl totally reminded me of Peter Pan, so I have her flying over a city scape like the characters in Peter Pan. The buildings are from the Your Super My Favorite Things stamp set and I just stamped them multiple times. I created a mask for the buildings so I could then color the sky using distress inks; I used Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire. After blending the colors together I sprayed some water on the ink and blotted it with a towel. This is what makes distress inks so awesome, they react with water. Then I watered down some gouache white paint and flicked it onto the card to make stars.
The stars behind the girl’s feet is another stamp from the kit and were embossed using Hero Arts silver embossing powder. I love the effect it gives the girl, who is stamped with Hero Arts Intense Black ink. The moon is a die from the kit (there is also a stamp) and I used silver glitter paper. The sentiment was also part of the kit.
I really like the overall look of this card. It’s not difficult, but kinda has a lot going on. And who doesn’t wish they were a flying girl!? 🙂
I made another card with this girl too and but used a fancy cloud die from the kit to put in front of the buildings. Coupled with the sentiment, I feel like this girl is dreaming, which is kinda what I wanted to portray. Thoughts? I’m not putting it in the challenge since it’s kinda similar to my first card, but I wanted to show you guys another idea with this kit.
Anyways, tell me what you think and thanks for stopping by!
